Cambridge-based artist, Charlotte Cornish joins stellar line up at the Yardley Arts ‘Summer Exhibition’
Charlotte has always found inspiration from the places she’s visited and the artworks in her brand new collection is no exception. Gathering inspiration from the landscapes of her beloved Marrakesh, her wonderful abstract prints are a mixture of elements from the seen world and her own emotional responses and experience. You can see at least two of this incredibly rich series at the inaugural Summer Exhibition at the Arts Centre at Yardley Hastings in Northamptonshire this June.

Along with Mellah Market I and Mellah Market IV, both monoprints with acrylic evoking the atmosphere of the Moroccan Riads, you will also be able to see and purchase some of Charlotte’s earlier works inspired by the parks and landscape around Cambridge, where she lives and works.

Charlotte says: “Making prints has always excited, engaged and intrigued me - the mastery of techniques and the handling of materials; the exploration of the infinite and varied forms of mark making; building images layer upon layer; the satisfaction of process; the potential for multiples; and the thrilling element of the unexpected. I feel that printmaking has deeply informed my practice as an artist, not only through creating editions of prints and making monoprints but also by influencing and shaping my approach to painting.”
Charlotte studied Fine Art, focusing on printmaking at the University of Brighton, Slade School of Art and Central St Martins School of Art. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and sells to both private and corporate customers. She also receives regular commissions.
The exhibition entitled ‘Gardens and Landscapes’ is being organised by Yardley Arts, which is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in the beautifully renovated Old School Hall in Yardley Hastings, Northamptonshire. They will be displaying work by carefully selected artists from Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties. Other artists featured will include Claire Denny, Nicky Hunter, Johan, Gerald Porter, Chris Richbell and Anna Steiner.
Make sure you come along. The exhibition runs from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 June and is open from 11am to 5.30pm on all three days. Entry to the main exhibition is free and the gallery is wheelchair friendly.
