If you love our great British countryside, beautiful landscapes and wonderful gardens, there’s an event coming up you’ll definitely not want to miss. Yardley Arts are holding our first ever Summer Exhibition at the Arts Centre at Yardley Hastings in Northamptonshire. The theme of the exhibition is ‘Gardens and Landscapes’ and on display will be a superb variety of artworks showing different creative interpretations of these themes.

The exhibition is being curated by Lynne Dickens and Jane Roberts, two members of the steering committee for Yardley Arts, which is a not-for-profit social enterprise based in the beautifully renovated Old School Hall in Yardley Hastings, Northamptonshire. They will be displaying work by carefully selected artists from Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties. Artists featured will include Claire Denny, Nicky Hunter, Johan, Gerald Porter, Chris Richbell and Anna Steiner. What’s more, Nicky Hunter, Gerald Porter and Chris Richbell are also tutors at Yardley Arts, who have delivered workshops and courses this year. So, if you’ve been to any of these, you may have met them and been critiqued by them before!

The exhibition will be held from Friday 28 June to Sunday 30 June, and will be open from 11am to 5.30pm every day. In addition, there will be a special Launch Event and Fundraiser on the evening of Thursday 27 June, from 6pm to 9.30pm. Tickets are available online (see below). The Summer Exhibition will be held at the Old School Hall in Yardley Hastings which boasts a beautifully light and airy exhibition space.

During the exhibition on Sunday, 30 June, there will also be an ‘Open Gardens’ event taking place in the village of Yardley Hastings. On the day, the artists exhibiting will also set up their easels around the village and will be painting and drawing, and gathering inspiration from the visitors and the open gardens.

Finally, the Summer Exhibition will also be showing artworks by some of the represented artists from the Primrose Gallery in nearby Thrapston. These will include fine art paintings, original prints, ceramics and glass art, all of which will be for sale during the exhibition.

It’s sure to be a wonderful day out with a lovely, friendly atmosphere, a range of fine pieces of art to see and buy, and glorious English gardens to wander around. All we need now is for the sun to shine!
