Art on the Wall: Art and Ceramics Exhibition
‘Art on the Wall’ is a rolling exhibition of works at Yardley Arts.
This exhibition of work by Sophie and Cathy explores both organic imagery and collective life experiences. Emotive artwork which prompts our deeper memory in conjunction with developmental sketchbooks and drawings promises to provide an interesting and stimulating gallery visit.
The artists will be available throughout the weekend, offering free drop in and draw sessions on both afternoons between 2 pm and 4 pm.
Saturday’s session will be based around organic objects, and Sunday will include the combining of words and images, with input from guest, Sue Godby guiding participants on how they might begin their own creative writing, and use it to develop personal art. We suggest that if you wish to access the Sunday session, you ought to arrive for the 2 pm start.
We look forward to welcoming you on Saturday or Sunday 10 am – 4 pm.
Please note that on Saturday morning members of St Andrew’s Parish Church will be joining us to run a coffee morning in the gallery from 10 am – 12 pm.
It’s free to attend and everyone is welcome.

Sophie Pennington
I fell in love with ceramics whilst studying for an A Level in Art and Craft at school. My enthusiastic teacher inspired me to experiment and try new techniques and ideas. 3D design continued as passion studying for a BA Hons Degree in Architecture at Birmingham and then I continued my creative career teaching art for 32 years to secondary and tertiary education. Teaching gave me the ability to be a jack of all trades but I always return to clay as it gives me the capacity to really explore and be myself. Organic forms are fundamental to my work inspired by Gods wonderful creation.
