Mixed Media Still Life Painting (1-day workshop)

  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square Northampton, England, NN7 United Kingdom (map)

Come and discover how using a variety of media techniques can express your individual style in this one day mixed media still life workshop run by Emma Lindsay.

The aim is to produce a still life painting (approx. 30cm x 45cm) using a variety of media and gain an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of still life paintings.

We will reflect on what is meant by the term ‘still life’ by referencing the work of Winifred Nicholson, Pierre Bonnard, Linda Bankerd, Tiffany Logan and Bella Foster.

We will begin by considering composition, scale and proportion using pencil, charcoal and pastel and then experiment with paints, ink, gel medium, pastels, acrylic pens and more. You will learn how to apply them and use them in exciting, contrasting ways. We will build up textures with tissue, acetate, newsprint and text from books, cutting and tearing shapes to create a range of interesting effects.
