Join Cordell Garfield on his popular one day workshop, which is an ideal introduction to landscape painting in oils. Working from a reference photo provided a landscape painting will be produced with attention to perspective, tonal values, colour mixing and application of colours. Students will be able to create a realistic landscape painting following a step-by-step process. The process will cover:
Using oil paints
Measuring and mapping out key features from the photograph with reference to perspective
The importance of tonal value, hue and chroma in creating landscapes
Organisation of a colour palette and approach to painting
