Loosen Up Your Floral Oils (Intermediate - 2 day workshop)

  • Yardley Arts, The Old School Hall The Square, Yardley Hastings Northampton, England, NN7 1EU United Kingdom (map)

FULLY BOOKED

This course is now sold out. If you would like to be notified of similar courses, please email info@yardleyarts.org

A two-day course focusing on producing a floral oil painting using a loose approach and exploring tone and colour to describe the subject, without overworking.

Are you an oil painter who, despite attempts to refrain, gets bogged down in detail and ends up with a laboured, overworked painting?  Are you trying to establish your own style?  Would you like to explore the notion of abstract shapes to describe and represent an object?

This course is designed for you if you have a little experience of painting in oils and would like to loosen up your style.   You don’t need to be proficient in oil-painting.

We will explore how to see the bigger picture (in terms of shapes and light).  How to decide what to leave in and what to leave out.  How to best represent the object with as few brushstrokes as possible and how to use a colour palette to unify the painting as a whole.

Very insightful with easy to follow instructions. Penny was very approachable and I
felt able to ask questions without feeling silly
