A colourful exhibition by one of our creative neighbours

Yardley Arts was proud to host the first art exhibition by Jason, a resident at Oakfield Community, a residential home for adults with learning difficulties.

Jason is an exceptional young man, who organised everything about his exhibition: choosing the location, the layout and then which pieces from his wide collection to display on the day. He recruited fellow residents and staff from Oakfield to help create the exhibition, hang the pieces, and also providing the tasty refreshments.

Jason also created the exhibition poster that was placed around the community and on social media which certainly worked well.

On the day, Jason and the Oakfield team were thrilled to welcome a big crowd of family, friends and people from the local community. Jason wore one of his self designed outfits, making a very colourful impact in the art centre.

Everyone was fortunate to be given personal tours by Jason of his vibrant and imaginative artwork and he was thrilled that a number of his pieces were purchased.

Overall, the exhibition was a huge success and Yardley Arts looks forward to hosting Jason’s next exhibition soon. You can find out more about Oakfield at www.oakfieldcommunity.org.uk.
